Better now

Sherry was allowed to go home on Monday afternoon, and we hit the road soon after.
She and Kyle are in Fort Worth for the week. I'll join them Friday night, and we'll return Sunday afternoon.
She feels good, but won't have time to get all her strength back before the next round starts.
One more to go.

Things Change Quickly

How quickly things change.
As we were preparing to leave town, Sherry got a fever. Se called the doctor and we headed for the emergency room. She was neutropenic (very few white blood cells to fight any infection), so they started antibiotics right away. She's in the hospital now, and improving. Her white blood cell count has tripled since Friday, so the shot she got on Monday has finally started to work.
Our plans are up in the air for now.

Better

Sherry's much better today. She has some aches in her hips, and her energy level is low (she's still anemic), but she hurts less.
She's using Aveeno bath to work on her overall itchiness. It helps some.
She goes in tomorrow to have blood work and get a shot for her anemia. After that, we head north.
It's going to be a busy weekend.

No hugs for now

Sherry is very sensitive to touch. She doesn't want to be hugged or even touched lightly.
The anti-nausea medicine is doing its job pretty well.

Round Five

Sherry is finished receiving her chemotherapy, and only half of the Oncovin again.
Her fingers are tingling and she's having a little difficulty walking without my arm to hold.
She feels okay, but tired. Her shoulders are a little sore.
The next 3-4 days will be when she feels most of the effects of the chemicals, then only one more to go!

Sherry feeling good Posted by Picasa

Good Week, Ready for Round Five

It's been a good week.
With the nephrostomy out and one chemical (Oncovin) deleted from the last cycle, Sherry has been feeling good. She's recovered her balance and most of the feeling in her fingers.
She's still weak, but I think it's just atrophy from not being as active as she had been.
Monday she sees the doctor, and Tuesday should be Rituxan, followed by the others.
She's concerned about the effects of not having one of the components of the CHOP-R regimen, and is ambivalent about whether she wants to have it in the next round.
We'll do whatever the doctor says.

Feeling good

Sorry for the long wait for an update.
Sherry is feeling good, but still weak. Her energy level has been low, probably reflecting her red blood cell levels. One of the shots she got a week ago was to boost her red blood cell count, and it appears to be working a bit today.
Over the weekend we watched the movie Independence Day, followed by the musical 1776. Last night we watched fireworks from our apartment.
She goes in for blood work tomorrow, and round five should start next week.
