Cultured bacteria
Culture results show that Sherry has an infection with some nasty bacteria, but not sure what varieties (listeria was mentioned, but not positively identified).
There is some concern that the bacteria is living in or on the central line that is used to administer chemotherapy drugs, so they plan to remove the line (ouch!).
She has one more treatment due, so they will later have to install a new one (double ouch!).
In the meantime she should start antibiotics any time now, and we don't have a schedule for the removal and reinstallation of the central line or for the start of chemo.
She is still in the hospital, and will be there for a while, we think.
